The New Mexico Philharmonic opens its 2014/15 Neighborhood Concert Series featuring Classical-era favorites Mozart and Haydn. The concert opens with Mozart’s cheerful Divertimento in D Major, followed by Albuquerque favorite Amy Greer performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23. One of Mozart’s best-loved concertos, the Piano Concerto No. 23 casts elegant and charming outer movements, with a poignant middle movement that is sure to tug at your heartstrings. The evening ends with Haydn’s triumphant “Lord Nelson” Mass, written in celebration of the victory over the French in the Battle of the Nile. Matthew Greer conducts.
